Mackenzie
Health Foundation (formerly
York Central Hospital Foundation) was established in 1977 to
raise funds for key
projects and initiatives for MackenzieHealth. Through these funds this year, the hospital acquired a new hospital-wide
medication infusion pump system that will both save and improve the quality of
life for our patients. These innovative, state-of-the-art pieces of equipment
help secure our status as a progressive and patient focused healthcare
provider. The Mackenzie Health Foundation’s largest goal right now is to
fund a new permanent second MRI with upgraded imaging capabilities at Mackenzie
Richmond Hill Hospital. Over the next 3 years, we will be asking our community
to support this $5 million initiative.
The
Mackenzie Health Foundation has accepted the challenge to help raise funds in
support of the new Mackenzie Health. The Mackenzie Health Foundation’s mandate
is to raise capital for the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital as well as funds
needed to continue to enhance care at the existing Mackenzie Richmond Hill
Hospital. The challenge is great, but we know that our community will rise to
the occasion.
Under our new Mackenzie Health
Foundation banner we will unite our community in the common goal of providing
the best of health, close to home for Southwest York Region.
We will achieve our vision with inspirational gifts from our community. Your gifts fund life saving equipment and technology, capital improvements and continuing education opportunities, providing dedicated hospital physicians and staff with the necessary tools to better care for the people in our community.
Ways to Give
Make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to help Mackenzie Health continue to deliver
excellent healthcare in our community. All donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt.
Did you know that the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provides most of the funding that the hospital needs to cover operating expenses such as salaries, heat and hydro, however, the purchase of new equipment is not funded by the government and is dependent on the generous support of our community?
Currently Mackenzie Health Foundation is engaged in a $6 million campaign to purchase state-of-the-art equipment and technology so that the hospital’s team of dedicated professionals has the necessary tools to deliver expert and compassionate care.
Tribute Gifts
Tribute Gifts are a meaningful way to celebrate life’s special occasions or acknowledge the memory of loved ones. Your tribute gift to Mackenzie Health Foundation will help fund priority projects and equipment, providing the hospital’s dedicated team of professionals with the necessary tools to deliver expert and compassionate care. Tribute Cards with a personal message from you are mailed immediately to the person or group to whom you are recognizing or the next-of-kin informing them of your gift. You will receive a charitable tax receipt and the gift of knowing you are helping to improve health care in our community. The amount of your gift is never disclosed.
Special Events
Sponsor, donate, attend one of our Signature Events or host your own fundraising event and help "inspire inspirational gifts" within our community.
Endowment
Endowment funds are hallmarks of a great hospital and essential to patient care. Mackenzie Health Foundation has made great strides towards the creation of a $10 million endowment for state-of-the-art medical technology and staff education – the importance of which will be profound for the patients of the hospital. Endowment funds provide a substantial reliable revenue stream for priorities of the hospital. The capital is invested and 3.5% of the interest earned is dispersed annually to fund hospital priorities.
Legacy Giving
You can play an important role in the Hospital’s future by leaving a legacy gift to Mackenzie Health Foundation. A legacy gift is a means of contributing to a registered charity, while gaining access to financial benefit for yourself or for your estate. Your gift will ensure that York Central Hospital will continue to be a vital, life-giving presence in our community for generations to come.
